Hokies 101
-
Eligibility
Only incoming freshmen are eligible for the program.
-
Description
This program is designed to help incoming freshmen make a successful transition into college. Although Virginia Tech accepts very successful high school students, many successful high school students do NOT automatically become successful college students. Many of our incoming freshmen in the past have reported little or no studying while in high school. That will NOT work here!
HOKIES 101 will give new students an opportunity to:
- develop good time management skills
- learn to set and achieve goals
- apply EFFECTIVE study skills
- discover how to enjoy their time at Virginia Tech!
Benefits of participating:
- Students who fulfill the program requirements will earn a certificate of completion
- Free lunch during the final session
Program Requirements:
- Attend 4 group meetings
- Complete program assignments
It's about balance and it's about staying on top of things. Participants will learn how to have time for the things they NEED to do and the things they WANT to do! HOKIES 101 is all about getting off to the right start!
The program runs for the first 4 weeks of classes (1 session per week). Participants are required to attend ALL sessions!
-
Schedule of Events

NOTE TO PARENTS: Please do not sign your student up for this program! This should be something they want to do! Let them make the decision and submit the application!
