Description
The Transfer Students' Seminar Series (TS3) is a special program designed to assist undergraduate transfer students learn what they need to know to continue their success at Virginia Tech. A team of former transfer students, faculty, and staff will provide a network of support and information. Transfer students can attend one, several, or all of the FREE seminars in the semester-long series. Attendees will have an opportunity to join a listserv for transfer students so they can access continuous support throughout the semester. This is a great way to network with other new and experienced transfer students and learn about the many resources available to VT students.

Fall 2009 Schedule
Working Smarter, Not Harder
This session is designed to give you the skills necessary to manage your academic workload. We will discuss issues unique to VT related to time management, textbook reading, lecture note taking, and test taking. You’ll learn to manage your time wisely, techniques for keeping up with your reading assignments, staying focused, increasing your reading comprehension, memory, recall, and note-taking. Leaving time for both school and fun!

Living and Learning at VT
Transitioning to a new town and new campus environment is a challenging process! In this session we will discuss campus resources related to housing, dining, library services, and getting involved. We will explore student organizations and activities on the VT campus. You’ll learn how to get connected to VT and the Blacksburg community to make the most out of your in class and out of class life!

Resume and Internship Skills
Everyone wants a job when they graduate right?!? In this session we will discuss how to prepare for getting a job while you are here at VT. We will discuss resume writing skills as well as internship exploration. You’ll learn how to compose an “application ready” resume as well as where to find and how to apply for competitive internship opportunities. This session is a must for anyone wanted to be competitive in the job market after graduation!

What to do next...
All seminars are held in 111 Femoyer Hall from 2:00-3:00PM. They are FREE and no pre-registration is required! Each topic is offered twice—you only need to attend once.
